States with mandated insurance coverage for treatment of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) saw a 10% increase in the treated prevalence of ASD during the first year of implementation compared with states without a mandate, and those increases rose further in the second and later years, according to a new study. However, the treated prevalence 3 years or more after implementation was still far below community prevalence estimates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
